Dr. Simon Rice is the Global Director of the Movember Institute of Men’s Health. Prior to this, he established and led the Young Men’s Mental Health Research Program at the Centre for Youth Mental Health (University of Melbourne) – building it to be the most productive men’s mental health research team globally. He continues to remain highly active in men’s mental health research. Simon also co-founded the Elite Athlete Mental Health Research Program at the Centre for Youth Mental Health.
Simon’s research provides new insights into athlete mental health, gender norms and masculinities, the mental health of boys and men including stigma reduction, and clinical trials research in digital youth mental health, including depression and suicide prevention. Simon’s work has received awards for innovation and excellence. He was Editor-in-Chief (2020-2023) of Australian Psychologist and has published >300 peer-reviewed scientific papers and >15 book chapters.
